Glasses free 3D on iPad.

With a front facing camera now on iPad 2, apps can now track a users face in real time. This allows for some really interesting tech to be shown off. Like, being able to ‘mock’ 3D as you move your head. The possibilities for this are great. Imagine being able to find hidden items in games simply by peeking. Or being able to pop out of cover in a FPS simply by peering over the top. Can’t wait to see how this is implemented in games.

Soo much Cool Kids wednesday!

Up front we gots The Cool Kids x Nike x Footlocker x Grotesk colab. And wait, is that (among less important others) El Heat’s Chris Bosh in the joint? Yessir.

After the jump there’s a parody clip for the Chicago/Detroit based “new black Beastie Boys”. Plus a free download of Bundle Up thanks to everybody’s favourite label, Green Label Sound.

Creative Director: Year Zero.

Among the forests of advertising books, stands out this little beaut. It bills itself as ‘A collection of thoughts for first time [Creative Directors] from those who have been there’. Collated by those clever folks at I Have An Idea, the book features some of favourite creative heads. Including Whybin\TBWA’s Andy Blood and DDB China’s Victor Ng.

Embedded below (may not display in Dashboard) is a 15 page preview for those not silly enough to buy without thinking. Or if you’re like me, you can dive in, credit card first, here

Kiip - A new way to advertise through mobile

I reckon this is a start-up worth watching. The idea is simple; Reward gamers with real-world gifts (think coffee’s, ice-creams and more) just for leveling up in mobile games. They already have a bunch of partners involved, so expect to see many brands jumping on this very soon.

Read the full story over at TechCrunch.

Wish I’d thought of this.
Cash moneyz for shooting birds at pigs. Brand engagement with Bajillions of unengaged bird-launcherers.

Everybody wins.

Why a fictional character is the best copywriter in the world.

So I finally finished Mad Men Season 4 on the weekend. Not sure how I managed to dodge all the potential spoilers for the last year. But hearing the above letter being written / read, gave me copy goosebumps.

Oh crap. Probably too late to yell *Spoiler Alert*, isn’t it?

I want to make flowchart ads.

Euro RSCG walk us through the filmmaking process for Canal+. Try and deny that you like a good flowchart. Just try.

A very special visitor.

Our lovely receptionist Lozza was finally allowed to bring Mr Delicious into the agency for the day. Suffice to say everyone went gaga. No work was achieved. And puppy sales are forecast to skyrocket.

Say hi to the nice followers, Mr Delicious.

MK12 invites you to the drive in for a little fun.

I’m gonna be honest with you. I’ve had a mo-graph crush on MK12 for years. Sorry IllouraMRPPP, but the Kansas dudes rulez supremez.

So when I got to work and found a trailer for a new in-house project titled ‘Fun At The Drive In’, I screamed a little. Girly, Beiber-mania screams.

The Black Lips know how to make Modern Art.

Apparently the secret is LSD. In the latest clip from their Mark-Ronson-produced-sophomore, Arabia Mountain, the band trip balls with giant squids, skulls ‘n’ flags and dream of blowing shit up.

Not how I was planning on spending my afternoon, but monkey see…

Three ads walk into a bar.

You guys like advertising? Us too!
Here are three nice, simple, light-humoured clips from our cousins at M&C Saatchi LA for Three Olives Vodka. Check out ‘Cowboys’ above. With ‘Sugar Daddies’ and ‘Sportscasters’ after the jump.

We’re not allowed to play favourites, but if we were, it would be ‘Cowboys’.
What?! Jus’ sayin’.

All 3:41:13 of LCD @ MSG.

For the hermits out there, LCD Soundsystem announced ages ago that they’re throwing in the towel. Tears were shed. Riots. Etc.

As a parting gift, the band let Pitchfork stream the whole performance from Madison Square Gardens. If you’re an idiot like me, you missed it, and awoke today to the whole world (including hilarity from Aziz Ansari) hashtagging about it.

Thankfully, some pirate had the genius to rip it and plonk it on the Tube. Now it’s here. And pretty soon the whole office will be getting innocuous.

The Universal Sigh.

Queued up with the Radiohead nerdlings at lunch today for this super limited edition newspaper. Don’t ask why. I simply knew I had to. Guess there’s a lesson in brand loyalty to be learnt here.

If you couldn’t make it down to Polyester Records, you can download the digital version from New Zealand’s Rip It Up magazine. Or wait a few years and pay a squillion gazillion dollars on eBay.

Also, *sighs of disappointment relief* that I didn’t make it to the photo page.

Kristen kills it for Xperia PLAY.

You’ve never straffed before but it feels great! One kill! Two kill! Triple kill bitches, you just hit the fuel tank!

Gosh darnit I love these ads for SonyEricsson’s Xperia PLAY phone. They’re so quotable. At moments intense. And all of the time hilarious.

Kristen Schaal proves that demonstrative ads can be entertaining and that celebrity cameos can make or break an ad. After all, would these be as hilarious if you weren’t watching Mel?

The remaining four ads are embedded below. Or here. Now let’s BLOW SOME SHIT UP!
