The Black Lips know how to make Modern Art.
Apparently the secret is LSD. In the latest clip from their Mark-Ronson-produced-sophomore, Arabia Mountain, the band trip balls with giant squids, skulls ‘n’ flags and dream of blowing shit up.
Not how I was planning on spending my afternoon, but monkey see…

Mark Ronson is Bliss.
Oop! Left some words out there. That should read: Mark Ronson & The Business INTL cover Tame Impala’s Solitude Is Bliss. Damn Auto-correct.
Slightly relevant side note: Bec and I hit the Palace the other week for what can only be described as one of the BEST GIGS IN EVERERERER. And (completely irrelevant side note:) I fell in love with Ronson’s lead vocalist Rose Elinor Dougall.

*Sighs*
Friday recipe for success: 4 parts Black Lips, 1 part Mark Ronson.
So hands up who’s anxiously snapping M&C branded pencils in anticipation for the Ronson-produced future-indie-cult success Arabia Mountain? *hand skyrockets, dislocating writer’s shoulder*
Here’s a teaser - the first video in which the Black Lips party on a boat (sans flipping dolphins and shit), with co-indie-darlings Vivian Girls. etc, etc. I can’t speak for the whole agency, but I just got a whiff of the weekend. 7:59:23 and counting.

ps: hands up if you’ve seen the BL tear apart a Brooklyn club? *other hand skyrockets, rendering writer useless for Friday’s remaining 7:53:17*
Friday mixtape sessions pt.1.
What music keeps the M&C team ticking? I bet you’re dying to know. Here’s a little something I cooked up to get you learned and to get us through til the end of the week.
First up, there’s some Arcade Fire and Mr Ronson - two tracks that’ve been getting an absolute hammering recently. They’re followed by a forthcoming Gorillaz release, and back-to-back M.I.A. tracks (including a “lost” demo). That should get us through ‘til lunch, then a slab of fresh Warpaint, Chromatics and STRFKR joints should help the pub feed settle. To slap us outta the comas, we’ve got a new N.E.R.D & Daft Punk jam, before we switch it up to remix central with a dash of Naked and Famous x Sound of Arrows, La Roux x Data and Shapeshifter x The Upbeats. To top it all off, we’ll smash the latest Converse track featuring Bernard Summer, Hot Chip and Hot City.
So now you know. That’s how we (I) do fridays. Bangin’.

Record Collection. Out Now!
This is just too awesome. The album. The dolls. Mark Ronson’s pimpin’ doll apartment. The VO. The look on doll Q-Tip’s face.
I’ve been looking forward to this record since forever. So check out some Bang Bang Bang and some Bike Song, then head over to iTunes and get your Ronson on. Or listen below!

Bike Configuration! Ronson’s got steeze, man.
How did I forget to post this? All I was looking forward to doing this weekend was riding my new bike ‘a right around town, a right around town’, looking for super cute Parisian girls (also on bikes), to chat up in parks. Then the rain came.
At least I can cruise vicariously thanks to Warren Fu’s future-retro clip for The Bike Song. If this track and Bang Bang Bang are anything to go by, Mark Ronson’s Record Collection is gonna be on serious repeat all summer long.
Side note: Ronson, Spank Rock and Kyle Falconer own some sweet digs.
Side side note: get some sweet digs.
Side side side note: also, a Schwinn with a sub.

Mark and Ghostface are back in business (International).
It’s been forever (seven years aka 187 internet years) since Ghostface Killah was lured into Mark Ronson’s studio. And somehow the world’s least-DJ-looking-DJ did it agian.
Lose It (In The End) is the third leak from Mark Ronson and the Business International’s forthcoming record, Record Collection. And it’s a classic Ronson dutty. Just what we all needed right now.

Bang. Bang. Bang. Shoot me down.
Every time I present a script with Q-Tip in a future retro space setting, it gets shot down. Now I know why. They were all missing Marku Ronsonu. And some Cali electro girl.
I’m sorry, what’s that? A super-flying, lazer-firing amazo-synth? Of course. It’s all in a frenchy, japanesie day’s work for Warren Fu. And not me.
Chris.
