Soo much Cool Kids wednesday!

Up front we gots The Cool Kids x Nike x Footlocker x Grotesk colab. And wait, is that (among less important others) El Heat’s Chris Bosh in the joint? Yessir.

After the jump there’s a parody clip for the Chicago/Detroit based “new black Beastie Boys”. Plus a free download of Bundle Up thanks to everybody’s favourite label, Green Label Sound.

Chris.

The Black Lips know how to make Modern Art.

Apparently the secret is LSD. In the latest clip from their Mark-Ronson-produced-sophomore, Arabia Mountain, the band trip balls with giant squids, skulls ‘n’ flags and dream of blowing shit up.

Not how I was planning on spending my afternoon, but monkey see…

All we wanna do is listen to Two Wounded Birds.

I know I get excited about new bands. A LOT. But I’ve got a good feeling about TWB. How can you go wrong with easy-to-swoon-along-to-hooks like:

Well let’s go go go go go-oh-oh.
Ye-aaah do do do do do do dooo.
Ooo ooo oo.
What I wanna wana wana wana do ooo oooo.
Ye-aaah. Life’s not so hard, it’s… coo-oooh—oool.

Moving along. Below you’ll find a pic of the british four piece looking exactly how you’d expect them to. Along with a few embedded surf-rock Sounclouds.

TV On The Radio - Will Do.

There’s nothing you can do to contain our excitement for the new TVOTR album.

NOTHING!!!

The Milk - (All I Wanted Was) Danger.

All I want is a voice like The Milk’s Rick Nunn. And a Milk LP. And a little danger.

KORA’s story ain’t over.

It’s been forever since we’ve heard anything from New Zealand’s funk ‘n’ bass kings, Kora. And with a smooth new vid and a bunch of upcoming shows, you’d almost think they had an album on its way.

Let’s cross some fingers, thank Jennifer Raoult of Film The Music for the Shadowy images and return to baggin’ the kiwi dub scene, shall we?

Friday recipe for success: 4 parts Black Lips, 1 part Mark Ronson.

So hands up who’s anxiously snapping M&C branded pencils in anticipation for the Ronson-produced future-indie-cult success Arabia Mountain? *hand skyrockets, dislocating writer’s shoulder*

Here’s a teaser - the first video in which the Black Lips party on a boat (sans flipping dolphins and shit), with co-indie-darlings Vivian Girls. etc, etc. I can’t speak for the whole agency, but I just got a whiff of the weekend. 7:59:23 and counting.

ps: hands up if you’ve seen the BL tear apart a Brooklyn club? *other hand skyrockets, rendering writer useless for Friday’s remaining 7:53:17*

Blind Faith for dubstep.

I left my 90’s rave-tastic-ness days behind me. In the 90’s. In Christchurch. But one watch of Chase & Status’ super realistic/nostalgic clip for Blind Faith got me back there real quicksticks.

It’s another hit for director, Daniel Wolfe, who’s had a smashing year already. And it sounds like C&S have been smashing it too. Below you’ll find End Credits, feat. Plan B. Noice noise.

Adele rolls deep.

But not like, with Dizzy or nuttin. With ballerina samurais and pyros and plate smasherers. And director Sam Brown. It’s all very mesmerising and beautiful and what not.

Keep an eye out for Adele’s forthcoming sophomore, 21. It’s bound to surprise. And below, get some remix in ya. Thanks to High Contrast.

Trigger Happy Hands.

Wow. As if we hadn’t seen enough disturbing music videos from Andreas Nilsson this year. Trigger Happy Hands turns it up a few notches.

It’s a short film. Or a long music video. Written by Nilsson for Placebo’s B-side of the same name. And while it’s cool to mess with coulrophobiacs and all, we saw the gingerocolypse months ago for M.I.A’s Born Free (below). Meh.

Grab your mother’s keys, we’re leaving.

The latest Arcade Fire film is directed by, wait for it, Spike Jonze. A-may-zing. And chilling. What a way to round out the week.

Super NSFW Friday Klaxons.

Disclaimer up front. This is not the kind of thing to send around the office in an all-staffer. Unless you work in an advertising agency. Which we do. So we can. So there.

The latest Klaxons clip starts off innocently enough, then to quote my Art Director “escalates outta control real quick. Woah what the hell was… oh god, I feel dirty”. Yeah. It’s mesmerising. Beautifully executed. And once again, not safe for (your) work. Thanks Saam Farahmand.

The dark world of Martin de Thurah.

Dude’s been busy. Real busy. First up (above) we get busy in black & white for Fallulah’s Give Us A Little Love

If that wasn’t enough, there’s the music video for James Blake’s Limit To Your Love. Side note: we like-ah the sublime vocals and wobble. I spy with my little eye something beginning with ‘theme’. No? not so much.

And if these weren’t enough, our Danish friend represented his homeland at the Shanghai World Expo with Bicycle City, Water City, Family City and Travelling Mermaid. All here. All mesmerising.
