QUAKED - Skating in Christchurch after the earthquake.

No shit. I used to skate in some of these spots. In fact, the quake-made quarter pipe (3:55) is on a stretch of pavement I hit every day on my way to work.

Burn skater, burn.

The crazy kids at Mojo Sydney have been drinking too much Coke Burn (insert terrible nose candy joke here). They gathered a bunch of skaters, juiced ‘em up on taurine, set ‘em alight and pushed ‘em down a hill. And off buildings. And into the subway. 
Luckily, Exit Films’ director Garth Davis was on-hand to capture it. 

I didn’t have any plans for the weekend, but now I’mma buy some kero and hit my local supermarket car park. No wait. Not like that.

The good kind of bombing.

I still have scars from bailing hard on the hills of Christchurch. So I had to watch Grow Up! by Rayos y Cantellas through my peripheral vision. 

I wish I’d thought of the ol’ cape-to-parachute device. Could have saved the pavement a whole lotta hurt.

Winter sux.

I’m wearing three layers. The heat pump is on. And I still can’t feel my fingers.

So it probably wasn’t a great idea to watch the latest Animal Collective clip, filled with warm, beachy, overlayed, sun-soaked, 60’s-ish, surf-slash-skate fun times. All I could think about was jumping in the van and heading down the coast. Until I realised I’d lost movement in my toes and the only thing left to feel was jealousy.

Deckstool

I’ve never broken a board in my life. But that’s ‘cos I can’t skate good enough to. If you’re constantly breaking wood while attempting to nolly, why not send your deck to these dudes, who’ll turn it into something to park your arse on. Lovely.
